Amidst rumors that the pair are headed for a divorce, a source told US Weekly that while the couple are not planning on splitting up, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have been “having issues” in their marriage.
According to the source, the problems began earlier this year as J. Lo was gearing up for the release of her album, This Is Me… Now, and the subsequent tour, which had to “embarrassingly” cancel a handful of dates due to underwhelming ticket sales.
Lopez and her team canceled scheduled stops in Nashville, Raleigh, Atlanta, Tampa, and New Orleans that we set to take place in August.
“Jen and Ben are having issues in their marriage,” the source told US Weekly. “They started having issues a few months ago as Jen had started ramping up work commitments and prepping for her tour.”
“Jen is very focused on work. They are on two completely different pages most of the time.”
While the alleged source may be denying that Lopez, 54, and Affleck, 51, are headed for divorce, the pair have not been seen together for over six weeks (at the time of this writing), which has been fueling speculation about their relationship status.
Lopez’s difficult year doesn’t look to be getting easier anytime soon as her upcoming Netflix sci-fi film Atlas, releasing on May 24, has been widely panned by movie fans for looking like something created by artificial intelligence.
According to one expert, the “backlash against J. Lo has been bubbling for a while” and has recently reached a breaking point due to the perception of her relationship with Affleck, her attitude about performing with Shakira at the Super Bowl, and her disingenuousness by acting like she’s still “Jenny from the block.”
As for Affleck, he’s currently busy working as a producer with his new company Artists Equity alongside Matt Damon and is also developing a sequel to The Accountant.
