In September 2023, a few months after the phone incident, The Blast reported that Bebe Rexha was anxious about her appearance at the VMAs. She opened up about the issue on TikTok, revealing she was nervous about possible criticisms.

“I know that the criticism comes with the territory, so I am all good with that. I mean, sometimes it does get to me. I am human,” Bebe Rexha confessed, adding:

“But I wanted just to talk about this because I meet a lot of and a lot of times they’ll be like, ‘Oh my god, I love how you’re all about positivity and confident.’ Let me tell you, right now, I’m not feeling so confident.”

The Billboard Chart-topper Was Conscious About Her Weight

Bebe Rexha explained that despite her positive and confident image, she battled anxiety and stress because of her weight. She noted that her body image made her nervous to show herself on the red carpet.

“I am so anxious and stressed about going on the red carpet and, I guess, people talking about my weight. ‘Cause I’m not really loving myself right now. I’m not really feeling like the bad b*tch that I usually am,” the singer confessed.

This wasn’t the first time Bebe Rexha had addressed her weight, as she implored fans in June 2023 to stop discussing her weight. She noted her recent figure was a result of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and expressed her frustration on X, writing:

“I know I got fat. I’m just so sick of people talking about it. NEXT!!!!!!”
