The once magnificent Tropicana Las Vegas has less than a week left standing on the strip. Its days have been numbered for a long time as mega luxury resorts took over the strip and the property that was built in 1957 is reportedly sitting atop the site that could very likely be home to a ballpark in the future for the Oakland As.

Demolition is set to take place at 2:30 a.m. (local time) on Wednesday, October 9th, less than a week out. In true Las Vegas style, the demolition is set to be a massive moment of entertainment for anyone in the area. Bally’s will also stream the event on their app so make sure to have that!

There will be a full-blown fireworks display put on by Fireworks by Grucci. There will also be a show with 555 drones including 150 ‘Pyrodrones‘ which will fly above the Tropicana and rain fire (sparks) onto the building to ignite the demolition after the fireworks show. 8 News Now ran a story on these sick pyrodrones:

Pyrodrones?! Pyrodrones!!! We truly are living in the future.

Full stop. If I was anywhere near Las Vegas and not on the other side of the country I would 100% be there to watch this because there are only so many opportunities in life to see a history Las Vegas casino imploded and accompanied with a huge fireworks show.

Las Vegas Weekly has an incredible rundown of the numbers involved in this demolition:

— 917,400 Total square feet across the two Tropicana towers (Paradise and Club Towers)

— 1,130 boreholes in the Club tower filled with explosives

— 2,190 pounds of explosives used across the Paradise and Club Towers

— 22,000 feet of detonating cord to connect and ignite all of the explosives

— 23 stories will be imploded

They also throw out ’67’ as the total number of years the Tropicana existed on the Las Vegas strip.

Drone shows in general are pretty cool these days but Pyrodrones culminating a fireworks show to demolish the Tropicana?! This will easily be the coolest explosives-related show seen anywhere on earth this year.
