Assassin’s Creed Shadows roasted Elon Musk as the X owner feuded with Hasan over promoting the game, which he dubbed “terrible.”
Assassin’s Creed Shadows has had quite the rocky lead-up with controversy over the game’s protagonists, concerns from the Japanese government, and streamers being banned for their sponsored streams. Despite this, it still managed to set a huge franchise record.
On March 25, X user and former game developer Grummz posted a screenshot of Hasan advertising Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Bluesky and called out Ubisoft in the process.
“You can tell a lot about Ubisoft with how much money they are throwing at terrorist-platforming streamers,” he said, referencing how Hasan had interviewed a Houthi sympathizer back in January. The Houthi organization is a group designated as a terrorist organization by the US State Department.
X owner and Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded to this criticism of Hasan with his own take on the game publisher and the streamer.
Hasan mocks Elon Musk over calling him a “fraud”
In a couple of posts, Musk, an avid gamer himself, claimed “Hasan is a fraud” before adding some additional words eight minutes later.
“‘Sell-out’ would be more accurate,” the SpaceX owner remarked. “Objectively, he is promoting a terrible game just for the money.”
Not taking the comment lying down, Hasan retaliated by calling into question Musk’s own gaming history.
“This b*tch literally paid someone to powerlevel his character in POE2,” Hasan claimed.
Musk had sparked controversy in the gaming community for bragging about his accomplishments in Diablo 4 and Path of Exile before admitting to having people level up his accounts.
“Wym I’m a fraud? Elon, I challenge you to a duel in Elden Ring. I will cook your fat rolling ass,” the streamer continued.
Fellow streaming personality Asmongold chimed in on the matter, claiming he’d be willing to organize such a 1v1. However, the contest would need to be streamed from both sides, as to ensure Elon is actually playing.
This is hardly the first time Musk has feuded with a Twitch star. During his leveling controversy, Musk got heated with Asmongold and even leaked screenshots from his DMs with the streamer.
While Elon revealed that Hasan had blocked him, calling the challenge into question, Assassin’s Creed Shadows chimed in on the controversy, too.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows blasts Elon Musk over “terrible game” comments
In response to Elon calling Shadows a “terrible game,” the developers couldn’t help but take a shot at Musk’s Path of Exile 2 controversy.
“Is that what the guy playing your Path of Exile 2 account told you?” the official Assassin’s Creed X account sarcastically asked.
Users were stunned by the clapback, with some so impressed with the response that they even decided to purchase the game.
“Ok I will buy your game!” one proclaimed.
“F**k it I’m buying the Game a 3rd time!!” another commented.
“Cooked!!! Haha. Your game is still ass,” someone else said.
So far, Elon hasn’t responded to the Assassin’s Creed devs, but the X owner does plan to compete with Ubisoft by forming his own game company.
In November, Musk announced plans to start his own AI game studio to “make games great again” and later hinted at possibly buying Hasbro to acquire the Dungeons & Dragons IP.
