Kutcher recently revealed that he was once diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition that deeply affected his body. Kutcher spoke about the condition for the first time during an interview on an episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls: The Challenge.

The “Just Married” actor said, “Like two years ago, I had this weird, super rare form of vasculitis, that, like, knocked out my vision, it knocked out my hearing, it knocked out, like, all my equilibrium.”

Kutcher also revealed that the disorder had left him extremely weak and bedridden and that he wasn’t sure he’d ever get back to his normal self. He said, “You don’t really appreciate it until it’s gone. Until you go, ‘I don’t know if I’m ever going to be able to see again, I don’t know if I’m ever going to be able to hear again, I don’t know if I’m ever going to be able to walk again.’”

Kutcher, who shares two kids, Wyatt and Dimitri, with Kunis, also spoke to Bear Grylls about the lessons he learned during the health scare. He said, “The minute you start seeing your obstacles as things that are made for you, to give you what you need, then life starts to get fun, right?”

Kutcher stated that he was extremely lucky to be alive and in control of his body. He said, “You start surfing on top of your problems instead of living underneath them.” Shortly after the interview, Kutcher posted on his social media that he was “fully recovered” from the health scare.

He tweeted, “Yes, I had a rare vasculitis episode 3yrs ago. (Autoimmune flair up) I had some impairments hear, vision, balance issues right after. I fully recovered. All good. Moving on. See you at the 2022 NY Marathon.”
