Ari Aster’s acclaimed sophomore film, Midsommar, is coming to IMAX for the first time ever. More than 300 IMAX locations across the United States will screen the director’s cut of the flick on Thursday, June 20th.
Midsommar is merely the latest film to emerge on the big(ger) screen, as A24 and IMAX have partnered to give movies like Ex Machina and Uncut Gems similar treatment. Upcoming projects include Oasis: Supersonic (which will hit theaters on Tuesday, July 16th) and Everything Everywhere All at Once (which you can catch on Wednesday, August 28th). Head over to the IMAX website for tickets and more information.
Midsommar stars Florence Pugh and Jack Reynor as a dysfunctional couple who take a trip abroad. Of course, things get a tad more complicated as their gorgeous retreat turns out to be a bizarre and violent pagan cult. Ari Aster’s latest film was the Joaquin Phoenix-starring Beau Is Afraid. He has reportedly begun work on his next project, Eddington, which is set to feature Phoenix, Emma Stone, Pedro Pascal, and Austin Butler.
