Applebee’s & IHOP join forces with unexpected dual-brand restaurants

Applebee’s and IHOP have just opened their first dual-branded restaurant in Texas that features menu items from both popular restaurants.

Dine Brands, the company behind both Applebee’s and IHOP, has been testing out dual-branded restaurants for a few years.

According to a press release, they’ve opened 13 across Canada, Mexico, Honduras, and the Middle East, leaving fans in the United States patiently waiting for them to expand.

On February 18, 2025, Dine announced the opening of its first of 15 dual-branded restaurants in the US with the first one in Texas.

Applebee’s combines with IHOP in the same building

The restaurant features both brands on the outside of the business and includes items from each respective menu including pancakes, omelets, wings, burgers, and more.

Once inside, you’ll find shared bathrooms, the host stand, and the kitchen alongside exclusive menu items like the new Buffalo Chicken Omelette and the Ultimate Breakfast Burger.

News of the launch made its way around social media, with TikToker snachwithzach playfully labeling the collab “Applehop.” He also mentioned that the company has had one of these combined restaurants in Detroit, Michigan, but the Texas-based location is the first one they’re making a point to advertise.

“There has been a location for a while in Detroit, but the first one that IHOP is touting is in Texas,” he said.

Fans flocked to the comments of the post to share their thoughts, with some excited to potentially check out one of the dual-branded restaurants.

“So… I can get $1 drinks AND pancakes in the same spot?” one user asked.

Another said: “I mean they are both owned by the same company so this makes sense. Cool concept but I’m just happy with mimosas at Ihop.”

“‘Apple-hop’ has me screaming,” shared a third.

This is just the latest restaurant-related news to catch fans by surprise. On February 18, 2025, Kentucky Fried Chicken revealed it is moving headquarters from Kentucky to Texas.
