In addition to being an acclaimed actress, Furiosa star Anya Taylor-Joy is also a model, and when you have a combination of those two professions, odds are you’re going to be into fashion. And Taylor-Joy is certainly into fashion, based on her red carpet appearances over the years.
Do I understand “high fashion”? Absolutely not. As far as I’m concerned, the dress that Taylor-Joy wore to the Sydney, Australia premiere of Furiosa looked like a cross between the old Washington Redskins logo and the horror movie monster Hellraiser.
These are the perks of being a movie star, though: you can wear patently insane outfits, call it “fashion,” and no one bats an eyelash. Imagine the looks you’d get if your girlfriend or fiance or wife pulled up to your buddy’s wedding in that outfit. Would they even let you in?

To be a bit fair to Taylor-Joy, it seems as though her premiere night outfit was inspired by some of the marketing material for Furiosa, specifically this poster:

Alongside Taylor-Joy in the lead role, originally played by Oscar winner Charlize Theron in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga also stars Chris Hemsworth as Warlord Dementus, the film’s villain. Alyla Browne and Tom Burke also feature in the film, which will be released in movie theaters in the United States on Friday, May 24.
Earlier this year, the 28-year-old Taylor-Joy, quickly becoming one of the biggest actresses in Hollywood, also had a small role in Dune: Part Two that will be expanded upon should Dune: Messiah happen. She’s also currently in production in the Scott Derrickson film The Gorge alongside Miles Teller.
Despite the fact that Mad Max franchise director George Miller is now 79 years old, the acclaimed Aussie filmmaker recently revealed that he has plans for yet another Mad Max film, this one featuring Max Rockatansky.
