Singer-songwriter Antonia Bennett, Tony Bennett’s daughter, spoke about her new music and her upcoming show in Staten Island, New York.
‘Ain’t Misbehavin’ song
On her song “Ain’t Misbehavin,” she said, “Christian Jacob who played piano on this record and did all the arrangements asked me if I would like to sing ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’ with just piano and voice. I thought to myself… this sounds like fun!”
“Ain’t Misbehavin” was first recorded by Tony Bennett in 1964. Tony Bennett performed the classic for his album “When Lights Are Low.”
Music and songwriting inspirations
Regarding her music and songwriting inspirations, she remarked, “Listening to music I love, hearing a great story or just taking from pieces of my own life or others around me that have touched me in some way.”
Song selection process for hew new album ‘Expressions’
On the song selection process for her forthcoming album, she said, “This record is really a snapshot of my life at the time when I recorded it.”
“A combination of my own life experiences and by the standards that greatly shaped me into the artist I am today,” she added.
Personal favorite song on the album
On her personal favorite song on the album, she said, “Hard to pick one! There are so many I love. … I really like ‘Hushabye Mountain’.”

Antonia shared that her late father, the legendary Tony Bennett was an influence on her growing us and noted that he “still is.”
Future plans
On her future plans, she shared, “I am hoping to record a Brazilian concept album at some point and to collaborate with some of my heroes.”
Upcoming show at Lorenzo’s
She will be performing at Lorenzo’s Restaurant, Bar & Cabaret in Staten Island on Friday, February 28th.
“I will sing songs from ‘The Great American Songbook,’ also some originals tunes, collectively which will be featured on my upcoming album titled ‘Expressions’,” she revealed.
The digital age
On being an artist in the digital age, she said, “There is definitely a learning curve but, it’s great there are so many ways to get your music out there today and to connect with fans.”
Success
On her definition of the word success, she said, “Success, to me, is doing something I love and being able to share and spend time with the people I love.”
Closing thoughts on her new music
For her fans, she stated about the new music, “I truly feel the music speaks for it self. After so many years of doing this, I have confidence to be who I am and express myself freely.”
“I hope others will enjoy this album as it really touches on many new things for me,” she noted.
“Some of the songs I wrote on this record are songs about being a mom and a working musician. Taking a strong footing in the person I have become,” she concluded.
