Anthony Bourdain Biopic Tony Officially Announced by A24

A24 has officially announced its posthumous Anthony Bourdain biopic, titled Tony. The Holdovers breakout star Dominic Sessa has been confirmed to star in the titular role, with Antonio Banderas also being cast in an undisclosed role.

Matt Johnson (BlackBerry) is set to direct from a screenplay co-written by Todd Bartels and Lou Howe, according to Variety. Tony will be set in Provincetown, Massachusetts in 1976, approximately two years before a 20-year-old Bourdain graduated from the Culinary Institute of America (CIA).

This marks the second time Bourdain’s life has been brought to the screen. In 2005, his exposé/memoir on the culinary industry, Kitchen Confidential, was adapted into a sitcom starring Bradley Cooper.
