The Netflix series Beef, starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, impressed critics and viewers with its dark comedy, fantastic storyline, and outstanding performances. The first season came out in April last year, and it has grabbed some of the major awards at the Emmys this year. Luckily for the fans, the fun won’t end with season 1. Apparently, there will be Beef 2, and big names like Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal are being eyed for the main cast.
What is Beef about?
It is about a failing contractor and an unfulfilled entrepreneur, sparking a feud after a road rage incident between them. However, there is also an underlying depression. They require psychological solace but refuse to get conventional help. The series has an 8/10 rating on IMDb. Many critics call it one of the best series of the year.
What do we know about Beef 2?
As per Deadline’s report, Hollywood A-listers Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal will be in Beef 2. Jake and Anne are exceptional performers who worked together in the rom-com drama Love & Other Drugs. It was released in 2010 and earned $102.8 million globally. They also shared the screen on Brokeback Mountain. Besides them, May December and Riverdale fame Charles Melton is being considered. Cailee Spaeny, who grabbed the spotlight as Priscilla Presley in Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla, might also be among the main cast in the report.
When will its production begin?
The storyline will reportedly revolve around two feuding couples allegedly played by the four celebs mentioned above. Netflix and A24 are ready to start Beef 2’s production by late summer or fall. Nothing much has been revealed about the series’ plot yet. There is also no information on its release date.
