THE AMERICAN Music Awards were an ‘embarrassing mess’ after stars like Billie Eilish ‘refused’ to attend, a source exclusively told The U.S. Sun.
Viewers have been left with overwhelming disappointment after hardly any of the A-list nominees showed up to the 2025 AMAs ceremony in Las Vegas on Monday night.

Not only were the night’s biggest nominees, including Billie, 23, Taylor Swift, 35, and Chappell Roan, 27, all noticeably absent, but even confirmed presenters decided to “no-show.”
According to a production insider, the “whole thing” was a complete “mess” backstage.
“Even backstage before the show started, they were getting last-minute cancellations left and right.
“It was unorganized and at times, it was a disaster,” the source claimed.
The insider continued: “It is an even bigger blow, considering the fact that they were scrambling to get talent here in the first place.
“I mean, Billie swept the entire show and couldn’t even come. They begged her team to have Billie come tonight but they couldn’t get her.
“They couldn’t get most of the people they tried to get. Not just talent but confirmed presenters didn’t even bother to show up.
“Cara Delevingne was announced as a presenter last week and didn’t show up. To say it’s embarrassing for production is an understatement.”

Billie is currently on tour in Europe however, she had several days before her next show, which takes place on May 29 in Cologne, Germany – meaning she could have made it to the awards show and back for her concert in time.

The Happier Than Ever singer swept all seven of the categories she was nominated in – including Album of the Year and Artist of the Year.
Though she was not present to accept any of her awards, Billie recorded a video message that played after the last honor of the night was given out.
The Oscar and Grammy winner gushed: “This is so crazy, I feel speechless. Thank you so much.
“I love you all so much. I wish I could be there tonight, I’m on tour, getting to see you all over the world. Thank you to the AMAs.
“Thank you to the fans, I know you voted for this. This means the world to me. I am just so lucky to get to do what I do and to do it with you.”
The 2025 AMAs marked a much different tone than the previous years as it moved to CBS after decades of the famous show being aired on ABC.

Jennifer Lopez, 55, hosted the event – which was labeled by fans as the most “boring” show in years.
The lack of talent who showed up was apparent, and fans came out in droves to complain about the “snoozefest.”
“Worst award show ever.. not because taylor didn’t show up but because I don’t know who half of these people were and not even half of the awards were announced,” one person wrote.
“No Taylor, no Chappell, no Sabrina, no Gracie, no Ariana, no Billie, no Gaga, no Miley…. Where are the FAMOUS people? Is this the influencer music awards??” another questioned.
“The AMAs were a FLOP. No a-list celebs, no tay wins, and it felt soooooo conservative and weird this year… never watching that s**t again lol,” a third fired off.
While one more insisted: “Can we talk bout how the AMAs are the most boring awards EVER, like where are the famous people??? Most like influencers awards.”

Another hiccup of the night came when country stars Shaboozey and Megan Moroney went viral while presenting the award for Favorite Country Duo or Group.
When the pair were on stage, Megan was discussing The Carter Family, who were pioneers of popularizing the modern country sound.
She went as far as to credit the singing group for “inventing” country music – which resulted in major side eye from her co-presenter.
Shaboozey gave Megan a shady look and was at a loss for words for a few seconds after she made the comment – leading to an awkward live TV moment that became one of the most buzzed-about topics of the night.
