Alison Krauss & Union Station Announce New Album Arcadia

A month after unveiling their first tour in a decade, Alison Krauss & Union Station are back with the announcement of their first new album in 14 years: Arcadia, due on March 28th.

Seeing Krauss reunite with band members Jerry Douglas, Ron Block, and Barry Bales — along with new addition Russell Moore — Arcadia will span 10 new songs, including the lead single, “Looks Like the End of the Road,” which arrived today.

The album will also mark yet another collaboration with Krauss and Rounder Records founders Ken Irwin, Marian Leighton Levy, Bill Nowlin, and John Virant, who first signed her when she was 14 years old. Arriving via their new label, Down the Road Records, the new album was self-produced by the band itself, and features writing contributions from collaborators like Robert Lee Castleman, Viktor Krauss, Bob Lucas, JD McPherson, Sarah Siskind, and others.

Speaking about Arcadia in a statement, Krauss touched on the album’s themes of history, saying “The stories of the past are told in this music. It’s that whole idea of ‘in the good old days when times were bad.’ There’s so much bravery and valor and loyalty and dreaming, of family and themes of human existence that were told in a certain way when our grandparents were alive.”

Continuing, she said, “Someone asked me, ‘How do you sing these tragic tunes?’ I have to. It’s a calling. I feel privileged to be a messenger of somebody else’s story. And I want to hear what happened.”

As for the single, “Looks Like the End of the Road,” it was reportedly the song that “reunited the band and reignited their focus,” according to a press release. For her part, Krauss explained, “Usually, I find something that’s a first song, and then things fall into place. That song was ‘Looks Like the End of the Road.’ Jeremy Lister wrote it, and it just felt so alive — and as always, I could hear the guys already playing it.” Stream the single below.

As for their 2025 tour dates, Alison Krauss & Union Station will hit the road on April 17th, shortly after the arrival of Arcadia. On the sprawling tour, they’ll perform in Atlanta, Memphis, Chicago, Omaha, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Toronto, Nashville, and many more cities. Get tickets here.
