Alicia Silverstone spent a beautiful, action-packed vacation at Lake Tahoe with friends and family. Silverstone, 47, shared highlights from the trip, including a snap of herself wearing black shorts and a purple top, posing with friends in the sunshine. “Summer adventures in Lake Tahoe with Bear, his buddy Julian, and some of my dearest childhood friends Brian Bosschart, @brianspitz22, and @joshsaylemyler! đĽ°âď¸â¤ď¸,” she captioned the post. Here’s how Silverstone is living her best (vegan) life.
Silverstone enjoys taking exercise classes when she can. “Sometimes I get too busy to exercise, so I’m so grateful I have clean eating as my foundation to rely on,” she told Into the Gloss. “That being said, in my ideal world I would exercise every single day. I love circuit training and organized classes because I’m not good at working out on my ownâI’m totally lazy. This woman, Maria Delgado, does a really nice dance class. But I also hike, and I take [my son] Bear on them, too. Not one day looks the same for me, so it’s very difficult to create a routine, but I try.”
Silverstone’s number one anti-aging tip is to eat plant-based whole foods. “If you want to look young, eat your greens such as kale, bok choy, collards and watercress,” she told New Beauty. “Also important are seaweed, miso soup, cultured fermented veggies, and a variety of whole grains and beans⌠Immune health and wellness is so important. My Elderberry & Sleep Syrup combines organic lemon balm, valerian and chamomile to promote restful sleep. Elderberry is also known to reduce colds and sinus infections and helps to prevent the flu.”
Silverstone relies on her diet to keep her skin clear and beautiful. “It’s the food that saves me,” she told Into the Gloss. “I can wear no makeup, and be really, really tired, but if I’ve been eating clean then my skin is glowing, my eyes are white, and I feel great. Before my diet changed I used to have massive breakouts. I had cystic acne all over the place, and it was embarrassing. Once we had to re-shoot an entire scene because of my skin. Those issues don’t exist anymoreâthat’s the exciting thing.”
Silverstone says she rarely gets sick thanks to her diet. “Plants are delicious and full of life!” she told New Beauty. “I adopted this diet for the animals first, but the biggest surprise was how amazing I felt. I ditched my asthma inhaler, stopped my weekly allergy shots, lost weight and had a glow. I felt incredible, had more energy and it balanced out my moods. Since then, I have not needed caffeine, aspirin or antibiotics. The health benefits are truly immense physically, mentally and spirituallyâsoftening your heart and spirit.”
Silverstone syas going vegan changed her life. “It’s really opened me to my heart,” she told Vegetarian Times. “Learning that I can stand up for what I need and what I want for this world is huge. The more you go into this deep, deep journey, the more it becomes clear what’s draining your energy or exhausting you or holding you back. And you get the courage to make changes.”
