Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria have announced a new reality show on TLC, titled The Baldwins. Set to dive into the daily lives of the actor, his wife, and their seven young children, the program is expected to air in 2025.
Finally answering the years of calls for such a program coming from absolutely no one, The Baldwins was announced via Instagram with a promo showing the first look at the family dynamic. Watch it below.
“We’re inviting you into our home to experience the ups and downs, the good the bad, the wild and the crazy,” the Emmy-winning, Oscar-nominated actor managed to say with very little enthusiasm or believability. “Home is the place we love to be most,” he continued through vignettes of his children screaming at the camera.
Reactions to the announcement began flooding in, with many commenters pushing back against the idea of exposing young children to cameras the way TLC was known to do in its heyday, when programs like John & Kate Plus 8 and 19 Kids and Counting thrived. “Lord, I need some anxiety meds after watching that,” one user shared. “The screaming in this video is enough to make me change the channel!” said another.
“Alec and Hilaria Baldwin have been making headlines since they were married nearly 12 years ago,” read a statement from the network. “In this TLC follow-doc series, Alec and Hilaria invite viewers into the home they share with their seven growing kids. For the first time, they’re opening up their family lives and bringing everyone in to join in the nonstop love, laughter and drama.”
The announcement arrives as Alec Baldwin gears up to go to trial over the accidental shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film Rust.
Meanwhile, Hilaria has courted controversy over the years for allegedly misrepresenting her heritage and cultural background. Baldwin was born in Boston and is of English, French-Canadian, German, Irish, and Slovak descent. However, she speaks with a Spanish accent, which she attributes to being raised in a Spanish-speaking household and living in Spain as a child.
