The Mountain Goats are set to make a triumphant return nearly 15 years after season 3 with Alan Ritchson telling reporters at the Daytona 500 that Season 4 of Blue Mountain State is happening. The ‘Thad Castle’ actor shed some light on what season 4 will look like and what’s currently going on behind the scenes.

After the immense success of Reacher, Alan Ritchson has a first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios which has been integral in speeding the process of a Blue Mountain State season 4 along. The 4th season of the College Football series first started being shopped around Hollywood about this time last year. Things have now progressed Prive Video picking it up for development and Deadline reports that Season 4 “has been fast-tracked and is now in its final stages, with a greenlight decision expected within a month or two.”

It’s been 10 long years since Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland premiered and it sounds like that time has been put to good use as Alan Ritchson praised season 4 while answering questions from members of the media in Florida over the weekend.

While speaking at a press conference at the Daytona 500, Ritchson said “we’re actually setting it up with Amazon. We are going to make a fourth season happen; I’m trying to work it into my schedule. Honestly, I think it’s going to be the best season of BMS we’ve ever had. It is so damn funny, and it’s perfect, the way we resurrect the characters and bring them into the way that things are now.”

Here’s that clip of Alan Ritchson speaking about Season 4 of Blue Mountain State:

“I think Thad is probably the most fun I’ve ever had” feels like an understatement from Alan Ritchson. Thad Castle is one of the most over-the-top characters ever written.

Created by Chris Romano (who played Sammy Cacciatore) and Eric Falconer (The Mick, HIMYM), Blue Mountain State originally aired on Spike TV for three seasons, from 2010 – 2013. A Kickstarter-backed movie called Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland, was released in 2016 with Ritchson, Romano, and Darin Brooks reprising their roles.

There’s nothing like Blue Mountain State on TV these days. Nothing even close. A 4th season would be an incredible gift to BMS fans and according to Alan Ritchson it sounds like that 4th season is pretty close to becoming a reality.
