Alan Ritchson has trained his body to intake 4,000 calories per day in order to stay in shape for his role on Reacher.
During a recent interview on the Inside Of You podcast, Ritchson detailed the diet that he uses to bulk up to star as Jack Reacher in the popular Prime Video series.
“If I stop working out for a little bit, and I’m still on that, I’ve trained my body to eat 4,000 calories a day, it would take me about three weeks to blow up,” Ritchson said. “So it does take a lot of consistency. I work out about five days a week. It’s got to be a lifestyle.”
Ritchson’s insane diet and workout regime has certainly paid off as the 41-year-old is not only more successful than ever thanks to Reacher but is also beginning to carve out a successful film career, having recently appeared in Fast X and the upcoming Hillary Swank movie Ordinary Angels.
His superhero physique may need to stick around for another few years, too, as Prime Video will not only want to continue Reacher for as long as possible but Ritchson is now so popular that comic book movie fans have been fan-casting him as Bruce Wayne/Batman in James Gunn’s DCU.
Prior to his breakout performance in Reacher, Ritchson was known for his work on shows such as Blue Mountain State, Titans, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Workaholics, Hawaii Five-0, 90210, CSI: Miami, Smallville, and more.
In addition to his starring role in Ordinary Angels, Ritchson is also set to feature in Guy Ritchie’s upcoming spy film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare alongside Henry Cavill, Eiza González, Henry Golding, Cary Elwes, and more.
