Alan Ritchson’s hot streak continues, as reports indicate he’s set to star alongside the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Christmas movie The Man with the Bag at Amazon.
Not only that, but the film will feature Ritchson as a “naughty list” thief whom Schwarzenegger’s Santa turns to after his magic bag of Christmas presents is stolen.
The movie is set to be directed by Adam Shankman, who has helmed films such as The Wedding Planner, Bringing Down The House, Hairspray, and What Men Want.
The project will also mark Schwarzenegger’s first appearance in a film since 2019, when he was in Kung Fury 2 and Terminator: Dark Fate.
Here is the official logline for the film, via Deadline: “When Santa’s magic bag is stolen, he turns to his naughty list to find Vance, a former thief, to help him get it back. Along with his daughter, Santa, and a group of misfit elves, Vance will have to pull off the greatest heist of his life to save Christmas.”
Being cast in The Man with the Bag continues a hot streak for Ritchson that began when he started playing the titular character in Prime Video’s Reacher in 2022. Since then, Reacher has appeared in Fast X and earned career-best reviews for his work in Ordinary Angels alongside Hillary Swank.
Then, in April, Rithcson will be seen starring alongside Henry Cavill and Eiza Gonzalez in Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. He was also recently cast in the action-comedy Playdate alongside Kevin James and is reportedly shopping a Blue Mountain State sequel series.
There’s also been talk of Ritchson being a potential choice to play Bruce Wayne/Batman in James Gunn’s DCU, although those conversations are strictly fan-fueled speculation at this stage. Speaking to BroBible’s Post Credit Podcast, however, Ritchson said that he would “absolutely love” to take on the role of the Dark Knight.
