Adam Sandler’s Emotional Saturday Night Live Tribute

Adam Sandler's Emotional Saturday Night Live Tribute

Adam Sandler pulled out his guitar at SNL50: The Anniversary Special to play an ode to the past 50 years of Saturday Night Live, one filled with in-jokes and loving reflections on the cast members who have since been lost.

Sandler was introduced by his Anger Management co-star (and actor from some other movies) Jack Nicholson — who has recently been out of the public spotlight. Sandler’s song, accompanied by a monitor featuring a photo slideshow featuring the past, was a number similar to other recent Sandler performances, including his 2019 tribute to Chris Farley and a song from his 2024 comedy special Adam Sandler: Love You.

This time, though, Sandler got audibly choked up when he hit lyrics remembering Farley as well as late Norm Macdonald. While also reflecting on the fact that none of that people in that room had ever been allowed to use Lorne Michaels’ private bathroom, he did end the song with a “thank you” to the show’s creator.
