Adam Sandler’s daughters have been cast in his forthcoming Netflix movie.
Produced by Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions, the film is based on Fiona Rosenbloom’s 2005 YA novel, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah! Sandler’s daughters, Sadie, 16, and Sunny, 13, are set to both earn $65,000 for their roles, TMZ reports.
Directed by Sammi Cohen and written by Alison Peck, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah! will follow “a young girl’s bat mitzvah plans comedically unravel and threaten to ruin one of the most important events of her young life.” Starring alongside Sandler and his daughters are Idina Menzel, Sarah Sherman, Luis Guzmán, Ido Mosseri, Samantha Lorraine, Dylan Hoffman, Dean Scott Vazquez, Miya Cech, Ivory Baker, Dylan Dash, Millie Thorpe, Zaara Kuttemperoor, Judd Goodstein, and Kasey Bella Suarez.
Adam Sandler and Tim Herlihy are producing for Happy Madison, with Leslie Morgenstein and Elysa Koplovitz Dutton producing for Alloy Entertainment.
Should You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah! be a success, Rosenbloom has a follow-up novel called We Are So Crashing Your Bar Mitzvah.
The news arrives a matter of days after it was announced that Sandler’s next film will see him reuniting with the consistently acclaimed duo behind Uncut Gems, Josh and Benny Safdie.
Deadline writes that “several sources say [the film] is likely set in the world of high-end card collecting,” and that the still-untitled project could shoot in Q2 2023, “which would likely make it Sandler’s next project.” The outlet cautions that an insider says the Safdies are still finishing the script, so there’s no firm timeline yet.
