A Nightmare on Elm Street Is Coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray


Get ready for Freddy Krueger to haunt your dreams in remastered 4K Ultra HD: Wes Craven’s classic slasher film A Nightmare on Elm Street is coming to 4K Blu-ray just in time for Halloween on October 15th. Pre-orders for the 40th anniversary release are ongoing.

The limited edition steelbook and standard 4K Blu-ray both feature remastered theatrical and uncut versions of A Nightmare on Elm Street in HDR, along with previously released bonus features like Ready Freddy Focus Points, which allow viewers to see alternate takes and filmmaking secrets by jumping to video highlights.

Other extras include director and cast commentary, alternate endings, and three featurettes: The House that Freddy Built: The Legacy of New Line HorrorNever Sleep Again: The Making of A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Night Terrors: The Origins of Wes Craven’s Nightmares.

Written and directed by Craven, A Nightmare on Elm Street introduced Robert Englund’s now-iconic Freddy Krueger to horror fans. It also starred Johnny Depp and Heather Langenkamp in some of their earliest roles.

The most recent mainline film in the franchise, Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare, was released in 1991, while a remake starring Jackie Earle Haley arrived in theaters in 2010.

A Nightmare on Elm Street was added to the National Film Registry in 2021.
