At 88 years old, Buddy Guy is still going strong. While the guitar legend may have retired from touring last year, he’s still making new music and was just added to the final show of this spring’s Experience Hendrix tour.
As previously reported, the upcoming run of the Experience Hendrix tour will kick off March 11th in Cincinnati and feature such guitarists as Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Zakk Wylde, Eric Johnson, Devon Allman, Samantha Fish, and more playing Jimi Hendrix songs. Now, Buddy Guy has signed on to perform at the tour’s closing date at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta on April 12th, with tickets to that show and the entire outing available here.

“Thank you to the Hendrix Tour family for bringing me back to perform at The Fox Theatre in Atlanta on April 12,” stated Guy, whom the late Jimi Hendrix cited as an influence. “I’ll never forget meeting Jimi at that club in New York in 1968, and I’m so grateful we had the chance to become friends. It’s an honor to help keep his legacy alive.”
On top of that news, Guy has collaborated with the alternative-rock band Switchfoot on a new blues-rock song called “Last Man Standing.” The track features Guy trading vocals with Switchfoot frontman Jon Foreman, as well laying down his trademark guitar licks.
“Buddy Guy was the blues legend that taught me how to play the guitar,” stated Foreman. “I remember watching him live as a teenager and being completely transformed. I wanted this song to be something worthy of the man who helped shape my musical journey. Buddy, thanks for joining our band for a tune. Bigger than that — thanks for teaching me how to play.”
