Ask any filmmaker who’s ever been featured on a list of films considered to be the worst, and they’ll tell you that being memorable isn’t always a good thing. Sometimes, it’s better to be in the forgettable middle. After all, countless movies are released every year. We can generally name the best and the worst, but if we tried to remember all of them, the wheels of industry would grind to a halt as we all became professional pub trivia players.
Sometimes, though, even a really good movie gets lost to the sands of time. For example, “I just watched Fearless (by Peter Weir), and it was great,” Redditor inder_the_unfluence told r/MovieSuggestions. “Really great cast. Fascinating and odd.” It got them thinking about “movies that everyone thought (were) brilliant at the time of release but didn’t make a lasting impression on culture. Forgotten gems.”
They then asked for more “movies that everyone has forgotten about but are actually amazing,” and their fellow Redditors were more than happy to jog our collective memory.
