The 2025 European Seagull Screeching Contest was held last week in the town of De Panne on the Belgian coast. It did NOT We didn’t think it was possible to top 2024’s European Seagull Screeching Contest but the competitors went all out this year.
In 2024, a 9-year-old British boy from Chesterfield in Derbyshire forged the North Sea dressed as a seagull to out-screech the competition and claim ultimate glory. This year, 70 competitors from 13 different countries gathered together in pursuit of screeching glory but it was Anna Brynald of Denmark who claimed the title.
Video clips have gone viral of Anna Brynald who donned white and yellow face paint, colored contact lenses, and a full costume to complete the ensemble en route to winning the 2025 European Seagull Screeching Contest title and being able to lay claim to being the single best seagull screecher on earth right now. Fewer people have won the European Seagull Screeching Contest than have won the Super Bowl, Olympic Gold medals, or Nobel Prizes… Just saying.
In the years, weeks, and days leading up to claiming the ultimate title of European Seagull Screeching Contest Champion, a title some believe is more prestigious than winning the Eurovision Song Contest, Anna Brynald took to TikTok to refine her gull screeching skills. And when the Danish competitor would travel throughout Europe she would try and converse with seagulls in their native dialect like she did here in Spain:

She also has the classic ‘GRWM’ or ‘Get Ready With Me’ videos where Anna showcased how she put on her seagull makeup for the biggest competition of her life.
Last year’s European Seagull Screeching Contest, also held in the town of De Panne on the Belgian coast, was around this same time in April last year. So, if you think you have the chops to cross the pond and claim ultimate glory for America as the greatest seagull screecher in the land then you should start planning now. America needs this W.
