DYLAN Minnette has enraged fans with a revelation about his career change.
The 13 Reasons Why alum opened up about why he decided to quit acting, but his words didn’t sit well with some followers.
In an interview shared on YouTube, Dylan, 27, spoke about his days on television and his new career in music.
The star has a band Wallows, who recently released their third album.
The interviewer, however, couldn’t help but ask why Dylan stepped back from acting, and whether he’d ever return to the craft.
“I was very fortunate to find success in it… I was on 13 Reasons Why, and it was really popular and really reached a peak so far in what I’d had in acting,” Dylan responded.
“But it also started to feel like a bit of a job… I feel like Wallows and music is this passion we’ve always had as a group to really take all the way, as far as we can.
“I was like, ‘I feel like I’m in a position now where I can kind of do that for a while and get this the farthest it can be, and the only way that’s going to happen is if I put my 100% time and energy into it, and take it very seriously…'” the film star continued.
“For me, I’m just following what feels natural and inspiring at the time, and I’m obviously incredibly privileged and lucky to be in a position where it’s like, ‘This starts to feel like a job, so I’m gonna do this now and this will be my job.’
“It’s insane, but it’s working out that way and I’m just following what feels inspiring.”
However, he did hint that he wasn’t necessarily done with Hollywood for good.
“I do think about it as a concept one day… but got to do this first,” he shared.
FAN FURY
While Dylan openly explained his job change, some people were stunned by his words.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, fans quickly slammed the star for a particular part of his explanation.
“Oh to have the luxury to quit your job bc it starts feeling like a job,” one person slammed.
“I get what he’s trying to say… but this feels a little tone deaf considering how lucky he is to do what he does for a living while others work 9-5s to make a living,” said a second.

“Call me crazy, but… isn’t it a job?” a third social media asked.
“He good on mute,” another joked.
“He should’ve said this during the strike to all those people who need this job for their livelihood,” a fifth fan wrote.
“The most Gen Z Entitled Brat response ever,” another commenter raged.
Despite the fury, one fan reasoned that Dylan had every right to follow his passion.
“He acknowledged his privilege and that’s what matters. Not sure why people are acting like they wouldn’t do exactly this if they were in the position to. Creating art to make money will never be as fulfilling. Anyone would do what he did if they could. It’s not his fault we can’t,” they said.
