Once failing her first audition for the reality show, Salamanca emerges as a Big Winner alongside Brent Manalo

MANILA, Philippines — It is a dream beyond fulfilled for actress and content creator Mika Salamanca as she was named Big Winner in the recently concluded Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition alongside her duo, actor and model Brent Manalo.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, July 6, Mika shared how she only used to dream about being a housemate, adding that she even failed her first attempt at joining the show, but she held onto her faith until that dream was finally fulfilled.

“Ten years ago di ako pinalad na makapasok sa PBB, siguro dahil hindi pa ko ready. I’m a firm believer that when plans don’t go your way, it’s because God has a bigger one, at ito yun!” she mused.

(Ten years ago, I was not fortunate enough to enter PBB, perhaps because I was not ready yet. I am a firm believer that when plans do not go your way, it is because God has a bigger one, and this is it.)

She also expressed her gratitude for being given the opportunity to air her side on the issues that once surrounded her and the chance to show her true self.

“Hanggang ngayon po hindi ko pa rin po maintindihan kung ano ang ginawa kong tama sa loob ng Bahay ni Kuya para maging ‘Big Winner’ dahil ang ginawa ko lang naman po ay ang bilin ng mga mahal ko sa buhay—ang maging ako. Thank you for letting me reintroduce myself,” Mika said.

Back in 2020, Mika was arrested in Hawaii for breaking quarantine rules. Despite her public apology and acknowledgment of her mistake, she has continued to face severe public scrutiny since.

She continued her post by thanking the audience who supported the housemates throughout the show, calling them the real winners.

“Words are not enough to explain how overwhelmed I am sa lahat ng sumalubong na pagmamahal sa amin. Maraming salamat po! Araw-araw po akong maghahanap ng paraan para maibalik sa inyo ang pagmamahal na natatanggap namin. KAYO PO ANG TUNAY NA BIG WINNER!” she exclaimed.

(Words are not enough to explain how overwhelmed I am by everyone who welcomed us with love. Thank you so much! Every day, I will look for ways to give back the love we are receiving. You are the true Big Winners!)

Mika also took the time to express her gratitude to fellow housemates Shuvee Etrata, Klarisse de Guzman, Bianca de Vera, and Dustin Yu, who were her closest companions during her stay on the show.

“To ShuKla and DusBi, dala-dala namin kayo sa laban namin (we’ll bring you with us in our fight),” she said to them.

For her final duo, she offered a heartfelt message to Brent by highlighting their strong bond as a team and a connection that will continue outside the show.

“You really made this journey easier by carrying my emotions with me. You never made me feel na mabigat ‘yung baggage ko kasi lagi kang ready na sumalo. And kahit nasa labas na tayo, walang magbabago. I got you. You got me,” she said to Manalo.

(You really made this journey easier by carrying my emotions with me. You never made me feel that my baggage was too heavy because you were always ready to shoulder it. And even though we’re already in the outside world, nothing will change. I got you. You got me.)

Salamanca’s post was met with congratulations and affirmation from her family, friends, and fans, along with supportive responses from fellow PBB alumni such as Manalo, Esnyr Ranollo, Xyriel Manabat, AC Bonifacio, Michael Sager, Ralph de Leon, and Will Ashley. – Kevin Ian Lampayan/Rappler.com
