Late last month, Jammz hit us with the news that work was finished on his upcoming album Pink Lemonade and that the new tome would be landing November 23. Alongside that news, the East London MC/producer/label owner also dropped off visuals for its lead single, “Rebellious”, a tear-the-system-down stomper built for only the biggest bass bins.
Today, the build-up to the album continues with the release of the album’s second single, “Fi Real”, an even heavier joint thanks to a dome-splitting production from Champion and Royal-T. The track’s video goes all out to match that energy, chopping between studio settings and glimpses of an expensive-looking whip he’s got tucked away in a warehouse somewhere.
We’ve been ready for an album from Jammz for a while now, but all good things come to those who wait and we’re certainly not mad he decided to take his time with it. Pink Lemonade, we’re told, continues along a lot of the paths laid out by the Warrior EP series, taking those ideas further and expanding their scope.
Speaking on the album, Jammz shares: “Pink Lemonade is an LP which, for me, is basically a collection of lessons/mantras I was meditating on during the first lockdown. The main idea behind it is that life is bittersweet. You need the lows to enjoy the highs, it’s bittersweet really. Hence the name—Pink Lemonade.”
Naturally, Jammz himself handles a good chunk of the production, but joining him, Champion and Royal-T as Millenium Dubs, he’s called on Jack Dat and Killjoy (who produced “Rebellious”), Scratcha DVA, J Beatz, and Gesher. Features-wise, expect 16s from Men, Ian Leone (aka Maxsta), Deuce Lumber, Eklipse, and “Cammy Riddim” mastermind Blay Vision.
On top of all of that, he’ll be celebrating the release with a massive Warrior Dance event at Phonox on November 24 where he’ll be joined by DJs Grandmixxer, Champion, Oblig, with Flow Dan, Killa P, Tia Talks, Manga Saint Hilare, Renz on mic duties—and no doubt there’ll be one or two guests rolling through on the night as well.
Ahead of the album’s release on November 23, hit play on the new video up top and be sure to add “Fi Real” to all your playlists.
