Kasien’s ‘Don’t Let The Devil In’ Is An Essential Listen

Following on from his debut project, I Found Paradise In Hell, in 2020, South London’s Kasien is back with his new mixtape, Don’t Let The Devil In.

At 10 tracks, it’s almost as streamlined as its predecessor and taps into many of the same themes—specifically hedonism and the darker places it can take you. Operating at the nexus of several different UK styles, Kasien has been toying with different combinations of rap, R&B, trap, drill and so on for some years now and much of that has made its way onto the new tape, as well as more dancefloor-ready moments like the D&B-driven “Damaged”.

There’s only one feature on the whole project and that comes from Nigerian singer-songwriter and producer Odunsi (The Engine). Kasien carries the bulk of the 10-track release with ease, which is refreshing to hear for an artist still on their rise. Much of the production comes from a tight-knit team too, namely Kelvin Krash and Slim Typical, with Sebastian Sartor, Karma Kid, Fred Cox, P2J, Cadenza, Razor On The Track and Payday also making contributions.

This one sounds a lot like the future. Press play on Don’t Let The Devil In below.
