Just shy of a year on from the release of SMH, Vibbar rhymer and podcaster Jordy is back with the KMT EP. We got our first tastes of the EP with pre-release singles “Enemies” and “PEAK!”, and to celebrate the project’s release, he also released its third single, “Forty Acres”, with Wretch 32.
In many ways, KMT is a spiritual successor to the last EP, but there’s a bit more of a focus on rap this time round, although it’s still just as eclectic, mind. Thanks to production from Midnight Phunk, Raf Riley, TOB, OJ, Buyeza, TK, and Elt Cheekz, the throughline is a bass-heavy, soulful rap sound, but there are also a few Latin touches, a hint of R&B, and a couple of other flashes to keep it varied.
“KMT is a rap-heavy continuation of SMH,” says Jordy, “where it turns darker and more aggressive.” After being named in Complex’s rappers to watch in 2022 list, Jordy has continued to show up and show out and this new EP is yet another score on the board.
