A year on from the last time they linked up—“Sinner”, with LP2Loose and O’Kenneth—Headie One and Smallgod have reunited for a new heater called “My Way”, which also features Eugy and Medikal. Originally lifted from Smallgod’s May-released album, Connecting The Dots, it’s the fourth single to be taken from the project.
Not quite as intense as “Sinner”, “My Way” is much better suited to pool- or oceanside. DJ Breezy’s production gives the track a sturdy bounce, but there’s more focus on the fleeting sax line and Medikal’s flowing melody; even Headie One relaxes his delivery to something more fluid.
Also key to this track is his decision to place most of the focus on the other three artists, and the same is true of the rest of the album, which includes a huge stack of features—almost all of which push artists from Africa and the diaspora. Also featured on Connecting The Dots are NSG, Darkoo, Oxlade, Black Sherif, Teezee, Boj, Major League DJz, Vic Mensa, Ivorian Doll, Kwaku DMC, Nonso Amadi, DarkoVibes, Efya, WES7AR 22, Kofi Mole, Acebergtm, Mugeez, Diquenza, GuiltyBeatz, Uncle Vinny, Alpha P, Kuami Eugene, BNXN, MzVee, Terry Africa, Yssi B, and Adje.
