Who was Beyonce’s Uncle Butch?
Rowland Martin Buyince – known as Butch – passed away in the final weekend of February 2024.
He was a “career Air Force man” and loved to live his life to the fullest through his exciting hobbies and excellent ability to retell a story.
Butch was a known fanatic of motorbikes and would ride one whatever chance he got and also was a black belt in karate, according to his devastated sister.
He was known for his cheeky smile and good looks by many with Tina saying “he had the most beautiful green eyes” in her loving tribute to the great man online.
Many had even compared his looks to Beyonce for the striking similarities between the pair.
Butch had a wife, named Jeanette and a daughter called Dana.
Dana gave him two grandchildren before his passing, Yvette and Roland.
Tina Knowles, 70, took to Instagram to share an emotional tribute to Butch after announcing his passing.
In a post shared with her 4.1 million followers, she said: “My Beautiful big brother Butch went to be with God this weekend. I will miss him so much! He was a career Air Force man.
“He was greatly loved. Sail on Butch.”
Beyonce is yet to comment on her uncle’s death.
The cause of death is still unknown.
How many siblings does Tina Knowles have?
Tina is the youngest of seven siblings and was born Celestine Ann Beyonce.
She was the first in her family to spell her surname differently to the usual way of Buyince, used by her siblings and parents.
This is believed to be due to a clerical error when printing her birth certificate.
It was her brother Butch’s suggestion to name Tina’s daughter Beyonce after the mistake.
Tina’s other siblings are Melvin Marsh Jr, Selena Rittenhouse, Florence Bowers, Larry Beyincé and Skip Beyoncé.
Just Florence and Larry are still alive.
Who is Beyonce’s father?
Mathew Knowles, 72, is the dad to a pair of very famous children – Beyonce and Solange Knowles.
He was the manager of Beyonce during her time in Destiny‘s Child, but the pair parted ways in 2011 following a rumoured fall out.
Born in Gadsden, Alabama, on 9 January 1952, Mathew quit his job when Beyonce was 10-years-old to help her become a star.
He went on to manage her hugely popular group Destiny’s Child with Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland before the split.
In a 2013 documentary titled Life Is But A Dream, Beyonce said it was “difficult” period but concluded they both “knew it was time”.
Mathew was also one of the executive producers of the 2009 movie Obsessed, which stars Beyoncé.
He was married to Tina Knowles for a whopping 31-years before the pair decided to get a divorce in 2011.
Mathew then married current wife Gena Charmaine Avery in 2013 and had two more children in Nixon and Koi Knowles.
Her father was last seen awkwardly correcting Craig Doyle and Josie Gibson on an episode of This Morning over an on-air mathematical blunder.
