‘Warfare’ Directors Take Us Inside The Making Of The Film

Just about a year after the release of his film Civil War, acclaimed writer/director Alex Garland, known for his work on film’s such as 28 Days Later, Sunshine, Ex Machina, and Annihilation, is back with his latest directorial effort Warfarewhich he co-directed with Iraq war veteran and former Navy SEAL Ray Mendoza.

Ahead of the film’s release — today, Friday, April 11 — both Garland and Mendoza sat down for an extended interview with BroBible, where they took us inside the making of the unique war film, which is more of an experience than a story as it virtually drops the audience into the middle of combat with a military unit.

Among the topics discussed were capturing the incredibly visceral sound design, filming tons of actors and action in a tight space, whipping the actors into shape, Mendoza have some difficult memories brought back to life in front of him, Garland’s thoughts on artificial intelligence in filmmaking, his memories of making Sunshine, a tease of 28 Years Laterand more.
