The 12-time Grammy winner is coming to New York on May 29 for a one-night-only performance to honor military heroes over Memorial Day weekend.
The Post has exclusively learned that the benefit concert will take place at the UBS Arena in Elmont, NY, and Jason Derulo is also scheduled to make an appearance.
Derulo, 32, is set to take the stage at 8 p.m. and Legend, 43, will follow.
The performances will cap off a two-day event that is part of Northwell Health’s “Side by Side” music series, which pays tribute to military personnel, veterans and their families every year.
On May 28, the festivities will kick off with a free-admission block party in Flatiron Plaza that will take place from noon to 6 p.m. ET.
We’re told the on-the-street affair will consist of games, a food festival and musical guests, including special appearances by Questlove, Broadway stars and the Northwell Health Nurse Choir. “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” star Alfonso Ribeiro will host.
Tickets for the concert go on sale via Ticketmaster on Friday. All of the proceeds will fund Northwell Health’s military programs.
The “Side by Side” organizers also encourage supporters to donate to military families online.
They note on their website, “We are committed to making a meaningful difference in the quality of care and services our active military, veterans and their families receive. Our Military Liaison Services do just that—and you can help us in just minutes.”
Legend, for his part, has been a longtime supporter of the military.
In 2010, the “Ordinary People” crooner sang for US troops in Florida.
He also wrote his song, “Coming Home,” about a soldier who is stuck in war.
Legend told Rolling Stone in 2006 about the track, “I don’t have any personal experience, but I imagined what it would be like to be away from your wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, whatever, and not knowing if you’ll make it home and could die at any point. And knowing that America is perpetually at war with somebody, either planning it or debating.”
