Corey Feldman has created an AI army of himself for his new “Characters” music video. The clip, made entirely with AI, finds Feldman’s different screen and music personas throughout the years morphing in and out of each other as they sing the song.
According to an interview with Billboard, the track is from an upcoming Beatles-inspired EP, and the video’s use of AI Feldmans nods to Paul McCartney’s “Coming Up” visuals, which saw multiple Maccas performing the single. “[The song’s] style of music is both from another era and somehow timeless, so I wanted the visuals to reflect that — nostalgic, yet fresh,” said Feldman. “We can’t literally recreate all of those characters the way we remember them, but we can pay homage to them through artistic, believable interpretation. In the end, AI was the only way to do that within our resources.”
Feldman also said that he views AI “strictly as a tool,” adding, “Let me be very clear: I am very much against the use of AI as a replacement for human creativity. We must preserve the human touch.”
