Captain America Brave New World Trailer Debuts Harrison Ford

After months of delays and reports of extraordinarily expensive reshoots, we finally have the first trailer for Captain America: Brave New World. Despite the extensive changes made to the film since it was first announced (including its title), it looks like the fourth Cap movie will deliver on the action-packed, Hulk-busting political thrills as promised. Check out the trailer below.

Production on Captain America: Brave New World initially wrapped in June 2023, but as Marvel retooled their more-is-more approach to content, the studio also made the call to rework the movie. Reportedly, an entire subplot involving supervillain team the Serpent Society was removed, while a new antagonist played by Giancarlo Esposito (reportedly the X-Men-adjacent S.H.I.E.L.D. agent G.W. Bridge) was added in over the course of months of reshoots.

Whatever changes were made, the Brave New World trailer makes clear that the Captain America franchise is looking back at its Winter Soldier days for inspiration. The story centers around President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (Harrison Ford, replacing the  late William Hurt) wanting to make Captain America an official rank in the US military. But the current shield wielder, Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, isn’t the only one skeptical about the President’s plans. When Isaiah Bradley (the first Captain America, played by Carl Lumbly and introduced in the The Falcon and the Winter Solider TV series) attempts to assassinate Ross, Cap starts down a dangerous path towards an enemy looking to reshape the world order — and as teased right at the trailer’s end, a new gamma-level threat: the Red Hulk!

The movie also stars Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres, the new Falcon), Shira Haas (Ruth/Sabra), and Tim Blake Nelson, the latter of whom returns to the MCU for the first time since 2008’s The Incredible Hulk as Samuel Sterns/Leader (is that him teasing a shift in global power?). Liv Tyler is also reportedly back as Betsy Ross. Directed by Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox) from a script by Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson, and Matthew Orton, Captain America: Brave New World soars into theaters on February 14th, 2025.
