The recent feature film Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar will soon be available to watch on Max. The animated movie will debut on the streaming service April 6th, right after airing on the Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim block of programming.
Army of the Doomstar chronicles the latest adventures of the animated metal band Dethklok. In the movie, “Dethklok frontman Nathan Explosion finds himself traumatized in a BRUTAL professional and romantic flat-spin all while he is tasked with fulfilling the prophecy and confronting the ultimate songwriting challenge: write the SONG OF SALVATION and save the planet.”
Metalocalypse creator Brendon Small shared the streaming news via X, writing, “BREAKING: METALOCALYPSE: ARMY OF THE DOOMSTAR will air midnight April 5th [12:00 AM ET/PT April 6th] on @adultswim then it drops on April 6th on MAX @StreamOnMax. April 7th DETHKLOK hits the road on the MUTILATION ON A SPRING NIGHT TOUR! (Pass it along).”
Dethklok, in human form led by Small, will embark on a previously announced Spring 2024 US tour with DragonForce beginning April 7th in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Tickets for the monthlong outing are available here.
Heavy Consequence caught up with Small at the 2023 Louder Than Life festival for a video interview, in which he talked about resurrecting Metalocalypse and Dethklok, touring with BABYMETAL, and much more. Watch that conversation below.
Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar was released on Blu-ray this past August. It can be purchased in physical form at this location.
