Damir is open about her struggles with body image and dysmorphia. She revealed in this Instagram post that she is working on self-love. “Every morning for as long as I can remember, I would wake up and find something in the mirror to criticise. I took a pledge to myself at the start of the year to stop punishing my body… I needed and wanted to fall in love with myself again both on the inside and the outside. I can happily say I have come such a long way over the last year and can confidently say I do love myself again.”
Another thing Damir is doing to help with body image is changing her attitude towards food. She talked about it in this TikTok. “The more I fed my body, the less anxious I felt. My confidence increased. My hair grew. My skin improved. My energy levels increased. My relationships blossomed. My self confidence was restored. My metabolism kicked in. My quality of life flourished.”
Damir reveals a lot of her favorite workouts on Instagram. After a procedure, she is working on building her strength back. One thing Damir does is Pilates. She shared this photo of herself using a reformer. Damir captioned it, “Slowly trying to get my flexibility and splits back with @theessentialmovement_pilates help. Also noticing changes to my legs and glute strength.”
Another exercise Damir likes to do is weight training. She shared this video on Instagram of herself doing different exercise. In it, Damir did exercises like bridge raises with a dumbbell, donkey kicks with weights, and deadlifts. “We have started to focus on more light weight based training at @fox_fit until I can build strength back into my body. Who else is scared of weights because I was petrified until I started.”
Damir is extremely grateful, and she makes sure to keep this in her life. She talked about it in this Instagram post. Damir wrote, “I went to training this morning ready and excited to smash distance day. 3 rounds in my Endo period pain became so painful I had to stop and crawl up into a ball and cry (literally). I was mad at my body for not fixing itself after my operation. I was mad at myself for crying. I was angry that I couldn’t push through. I was pissed off that I had endo. I was furious that I felt weak. I was jealous of people who have no pain at all during their periods. I got in the car to try take myself home, having to stop along the way from pain. It wasn’t until I got home and laid on the couch that I realised I needed to feel grateful instead of anger. I am grateful to have a period as some women with endo don’t have the choice of having a period and falling pregnant. I was grateful that my body allows me to train so hard on an average day. I was grateful that my body held off until after my launch to have this pain and period. I was grateful to afford medication and heat packs, as some people can not. Furthermore, I was grateful that my body, despite any pain it may go through, still bounces back.”
