NICKELODEON alum Kel Mitchell has discussed the fallout from the nasty divorce and custody war with ex-wife Tyisha Hampton
In a nearly two-hour interview, Kel, 45, revealed he had hit his lowest point in 2004 and contemplated taking his own life.
Kel had been married to Tyisha from 1999 until they divorced in 2005.
The exes share two children, Lyric and Allure.
While speaking with Club Shay Shay, the former All That star admitted he was not seeing a therapist and kept his issues “bottled up” despite his marital problems and struggle with fame.
“We had a baby. We had an abortion, but then we had a baby.”
“She ended up telling me that the baby that was aborted wasn’t mine.”
“So within that process, you are married with the lie already,” Kel claimed.
The comic then mentioned the moment he contemplated ending his life.
“When I was at a hotel in Canada, where I was going to end my life at that moment on the other side of the balcony.”
THE SPLIT
The TV star went on to discuss the divorce and the custody battle for his kids.
“When the divorce happened, you think like cop-parenting, people do it,” he stated.
“It works when there is a person where both people are taking their emotions out of it, and that’s what it is.”
“In this situation, that’s what it wasn’t, and it was.”
“It was a thing of she said, ‘Hey, I’m going to make your life a living Hell. I don’t want you. You need to stay,'” he continued.
“The guy she was seeing at the time. She didn’t want to be with him, but she was pregnant by him. Her family knew that they were together.”
“Within that process, they all wanted me to stay. They wanted me to stay within that and I’m like, ‘No, let’s just co-parent. We can do that.’

“She took me through it as fas as like, ‘No, that’s not what I want to do,'” Kel continued.
“Within that process, she went as far as changing the kids’ names.
“She alienated me from my children,” he closed.
The star claimed his ex wanted the divorce to “go on as long as possible” in order for him to continue to “pay for this and that.”
“I’m not doing this to bash here. I feel like we need to pray for her. I still continue to pray for her,” the Good Burger notable concluded.
Kel married a second time with rapper Asia Lee in 2012.
The couple welcomed a daughter Wisdom in July 2017 and their son, Honor, in October 2020.
