Heather Rae El Moussa Opens Up About Challenges of Early Motherhood
After welcoming her “miracle baby,” she has been sharing glimpses of her life as a new mom on social media. In a recent post, she got candid about her early motherhood experience.
In the picture, the blonde beauty sported a makeup-free face and had her tresses pulled to the back. She had on a gray bathrobe over a black top and lay her head tiredly on her hand. The former model wrote in the caption:
“I’m as tired as I look. Sleep with a newborn isn’t sleep… it’s checking them every few minutes, every noise, every movement…”
Earlier, she opened up about her issues while breastfeeding her newborn, expressing feelings of defeat. The Blast noted that she shared two adorable photos of herself and her little one enjoying a peaceful day at home dressed casually in black joggers, a top, an off-white fur coat, and dark sunglasses.
She sat on a couch with their pet dog and cradled her son, who wore a black and white colored onesie. Despite looking relaxed and happy in the pictures, Heather revealed that early breastfeeding complications left her feeling defeated. However, her openness about the challenges she faced is sure to inspire other new moms who may be struggling with similar issues.
The 35-year-old wrote in the caption, “Have been in mama hibernation mode for the past couple weeks but soaking up some fresh air today with my lovey🤍🤍 As promised, I want to talk to you guys about my breastfeeding journey because it’s definitely been a journey !! I thought…. I’ll just pop him on my boob and feed him anytime. Ya, no!!!”
She revealed that her baby boy had a lot of health issues they caught early, like, a tongue tie, lip tie, and jaundice which made it hard for him to latch on and feed. Apart from that, it also made him lose a lot of calories which made his weight drop.
Heather further stated, “We’re now 2 weeks past getting his tongue tie fixed, and he’s latching so well on the left side, and we’re still working on the right side using non-traditional positions which were shown to me by the baby fairies🧚♀️.”
The star recommended a specialist for times like this because, in her own words, “I had many tearful nights in the beginning because I’d be up at 3 am trying to feed him & felt so defeated.”
She added that caring for one’s nutrition was also very important before disclosing that she loves breastfeeding because the skin-to-skin connection created a great bonding experience. The actress admitted that although it was difficult, it was special because she got to go through it with her baby to make it easier on them both.
