Haliey Welch, known as the infamous ‘Hawk Tuah’ girl, broke her silence to reveal an upcoming documentary about her rise to online fame by an Emmy-winning production company.
According to Deadline, Bungalow Media + Entertainment, the company behind Surviving Jeffrey Epstein and Cyber Sleuths: The Idaho Murders, is developing the documentary for Welch.
“The documentary will chronicle how Welch, a young woman from a small-town with no active social media presence, unknowingly created a viral moment that gave way into a global phenomenon,” the project’s description reads.
Welch first gained notoriety after going viral for saying “hawk tuah” during a YouTube interview with Tim & Dee TV. From there, she started her own podcast, but vanished after being accused of scamming fans with a meme coin.
Haliey Welch confirms ‘DocTuah’ documentary is in development
Welch announced the documentary in a series of social media posts. The teaser shows Welch sleeping, having nightmares of headlines claiming she was dead, pregnant and going to jail.
The footage included comments from Joe Rogan, Stephen Colbert and an assortment of news reports.
Eventually, Welch’s friend wakes her up, explaining that she has things to do. On Instagram, the influencer wrote, “DocTuah is OTW” and linked out to Deadline’s report.
“I hope y’all been enjoying the crazy stories about ‘my life’ unfold on social media,” she told Deadline. “First, I was dead. Then pregnant. Now I’m wanted by Interpol and in jail! Luckily, we’ve been working with Bungalow to start spilling the tea and the truth is actually even more bizarre than you think.”
Bungalow Media + Entertainment CEO Bob Friedman says the documentary will be “inspiring” and show what it means to navigate the world with the risks and rewards of being in the public eye.
No release plans are known at this time, and more information is set to be revealed at a later date.
Haliey isn’t the only influencer with a show, either. Jake and Logan Paul’s Max reality TV show ‘Paul American’ is set to air on March 27 and will chronicle their lives behind the scenes of social media stardom.
