General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Katelyn MacMullen (Willow Corinthos) is speaking out now that Chad Duell’s (Michael Corinthos) last episode has aired – at least for now. On January 21, Michael headed off to a very exclusive clinic in Germany that can hopefully help him avoid severe burn scarring.
Chad Duell is officially out the exit door, so Katelyn MacMullen opened up to SOD about that in a recent interview.
MacMullen reflected on how she had mixed feelings when Duell first told her about his decision to step away from the role of Michael.
Although MacMullen was sad to lose her friend on set – especially since Duell is such a fun “goofball” behind the scenes – she also wanted him to follow his heart.
Duell had to do what was right for him, so MacMullen understood that.
At the same time, Katelyn MacMullen hinted that Chad Duell’s departure from the show still doesn’t feel real to her.
There might be a good reason for that since GH isn’t recasting Michael at this point and Duell has admitted his willingness to potentially come back.
“But I also think that because it might be more of a temporary situation,” MacMullen said. “I’m not letting my brain go to the place of, I’ll never see him in these halls again, you know what I mean? Like, I’m just feeling hopeful that we will see him again.”
Regardless of whether Chad Duell returns to the role of Michael, MacMullen made it clear that she’s cheering him on and hopes Duell has great success in his future.
Of course, Michael’s exit arc certainly set the stage for the character to return somewhere down the line.
Our predictions suggest this won’t be the last we see of Michael!
Once Michael recovers from his injuries, he could return to Port Charles for a fresh start – maybe one with Sasha Gilmore Corbin (Sofia Mattsson) since she’s pregnant with his child.
On the other hand, it’s possible Michael and Willow might find their way back to each other sooner or later.
Willow and Michael will always be connected through Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver) and Amelia Corinthos (Sequoia and Serenity Mork Macko), so perhaps they could repair their family someday.
