Since the legendary Bruce Willis was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia earlier this year, his entire family has stood by him, showing unwavering support whenever needed.
Most recently, they celebrated a new age with him — on Sunday, March 19 — marking his 68th birthday with so much love and delight, prompting fans to waste no time joining the celebration.
Bruce Willis Is Heralded By His Family As He Turns 68 Amid Dementia Condition
The Willis family was in a festive mood as they acknowledged patriarch Bruce’s 68th birthday with amazing tributes on social media.
One of his daughters, Scout LaRue Willis, whom he shares with his former wife Demi Moore, led the tributes by sharing a lengthy affectionate message alongside a throwback photo of her younger self sitting on the retired actor’s shoulder and resting atop his head.
In the caption, Scout began with a summon for fans to send well wishes to her father by stating, “It’s his birthday, so send all of your love, tenderness, care, and prayer his way for a moment!” She continued, “Happy birthday to one of my best friends, the Pisces king, the master of duality, both action hero icon and gentle girl dad.”
The prominent artist further expressed how privileged she felt to have Bruce as her father, who taught her a lot about “life, joy, mischief, and art.” Despite his condition, which made the celebration not “necessarily an easy day,” she still labeled it as “a day full of so deep love,” adding, “And our grief does show us the depth of our loving for someone.”
Scout confessed that she tried to be with both love and grief on the special day before explaining that grief was a price one paid to know what it was to feel such affection. In conclusion, she penned, “I’m sending my love to anyone who has never felt their capacity stretched by the enormity of love and the humanness of grief. I love you.”
Over 37k fans were taken with the heartwarming post, including thousands who took to the comments to wish Bruce a happy birthday. Another of Willis’ daughter, Tallulah, dropped a series of pictures of the celebrant, including some from his younger days and a more recent one of the father and daughter duo.
“Happy birthday to my numero uno Bruno!!” she exclaimed in the caption. “Feeling awash with all the good energies and love headed this Willis way! I love him, and he loves me – what a delight!
Similarly, the eldest Willis daughter uploaded a wonderful reel on the gram featuring every Willis and extended family singing happy birthday to the celebrant in a well-lit kitchen adjoining the living area. In the clip, the “Pulp Fiction” actor looked to be in good spirits.
The iconic Hollywood star acted playfully as his loved ones’ voices rose to the heavens, before ending the song with a happy dance. Bruce then blew out the candle on his cake to the cheers of his beautiful family. The pregnant Rumer captioned her post: “Happy Birthday Daddio – I love you to the [crescent moon emoji] – You are so cool.”
Her mother shared the exact video alongside a beautiful tribute expressing excitement to commemorate the milestone with her ex-husband. She further wrote, “Love you and love our family. Thank you to everyone for the love and warm wishes – we all feel them.”
Bruce’s Aphasia Progressed To FTD
As you might know, Bruce’s celebration comes months after his family confirmed that his health condition sadly deteriorated. In late February, the Willis family released a statement shedding more light on the “Moonlighting” star’s condition, revealing his then-new dementia diagnosis.
“We wanted to give you an update about our beloved husband, father, and friend since we now have a deeper understanding of what he is experiencing,” the family announced. They then mentioned that Bruce had been diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) after his aphasia — which was announced in Spring 2022 — progressed.
Although the development upset the supportive clan, who disclosed that there were no treatments, they felt relieved to finally have a “clear diagnosis.” Concluding the touching message, the clan appreciated fans for their support.
When Bruce was initially diagnosed with aphasia, he kept a lowkey profile as it affected his cognitive abilities, causing him to retire from the movie industry. However, that did not stop him from living the best life with his family, as seen in multiple posts the family shared.
One such update included the 68-year-old and his daughter Tallulah making comical faces as they embraced. They shared it on their separate Instagram pages, but the actress captioned hers with, “high drama club ~~ life skills ~~ fingers crossed I eat a veggie this week LMAO.”
