Amy Schumer Reveals Harsh Joke She Told Adam Sandler After He Fled From Wildfires

Amy Schumer couldn’t help but poke fun at Adam Sandler’s Kirkland-dad vibes — even if she did it at the absolute worst time.

On Tuesday’s episode of “The Tonight Show,” host Jimmy Fallon asked Schumer what it was like working with Sandler, who produced her upcoming film “Kinda Pregnant.”

After praising the “Billy Madison” star for giving the masses decades’ worth of quotable comedies, Schumer recalled a joke she told him “the other night” that was a tad on the mean (if understandable) side.

“I don’t know how this is going to go,” Schumer admitted.

She explained that Sandler’s family was “affected” by the ongoing California wildfires. It’s not clear to what extent Sandler’s property was damaged, but according to Schumer, it seems his family had to evacuate very suddenly.

“And he’s sitting at this dinner with us,” Schumer said. “He’s like, ‘Yeah, I just had to grab, like, two shirts and get out of there.’”

The “Trainwreck” star said that after Sandler told her this, she couldn’t help but observe the shirt he was currently wearing. She had to ask: “And you grabbed that one?”

“I’m like, ‘That’s the one you went with?’” she added.

But it seems that Sandler appreciated the shade.

“You gotta make your friends laugh during these times,” Schumer said. “He laughed. He’s a good audience.”

The “Wedding Singer” star hasn’t shared any personal information about his experiences with the wildfires on social media. But he has praised those working to keep people safe amid the blazes.

“Can’t thank the firefighters, first responders, and law enforcement enough for risking their lives for all of us in Los Angeles,” Sandler tweeted on Jan. 9.

The Sandman’s personal style preferences — he tends to favor hoodies, sweatpants, baggy shirts, knee-length shorts and all things loose and comfy — are well known at this point, and he seems to accept this about himself.

Sandler even made fun of his style to a man-on-the-street TikTok interviewer last year, after he was spotted walking around Brooklyn in a very dad-like ensemble that included mismatched shoes and “goofy shorts” (his words).

“I don’t think about it much,” Sandler told the interviewer about his clothing choices. “Most people make fun of me in my family. But I keep moving.”
