Creed rolled into New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Friday (November 29th), as they wind down the fall leg of their highly successful reunion tour. Frontman Scott Stapp and company were joined on the bill by 3 Doors Down and Wolfgang Van Halen’s Mammoth WVH at “The World’s Most Famous Arena.”
Taking the stage shortly after 9 p.m., Creed kicked off their 16-song set with “Bullets” and “Freedom Fighter,” both from the band’s 2001 album Weathered. After another handful of tunes, guitarist Mark Tremonti gifted a custom Paul Reed Smith guitar to a child in the crowd at the end of “What If,” something he’s done throughout the tour.
The main set closed with the monster hits “With Arms Wide Open” and “Higher” (both of which made Consequence‘s list of the 50 Best Post-Grunge Songs), while the encore closed the night with “One Last Breath” and “My Sacrifice.”
3 Doors Down provided direct support, performing a 12-song set featuring hits like “Kryptonite,” “When I’m Gone,” “Loser,” and “Duck and Run.” Prior to their set, Mammoth WVH opened the evening with a six song performance split evenly between the outfit’s first two albums.
Creed’s “Are You Ready?” fall tour wraps up this Thursday (December 5th) in Orlando, Florida. After that, the band is set to play three New Year’s Eve gigs with Sevendust, including one in Durant, Oklahoma, and two in Las Vegas.
