Elon Musk launches his own anime girl AI companion

Elon Musk’s AI ‘Grok’ just got an upgrade that will make weebs’ dreams come true by giving it an anime girl form.

On July 9, Elon Musk unveiled the next step for his xAI by revealing Grok 4, its most advanced model yet, which the SpaceX founder says is “better than PhD level in every subject, no exceptions.”

Along with Grok 4, Musk also revealed a powerful $300-per-month subscription called SuperGrok Heavy, which also gives users access to new features.

On Monday, July 14, Elon announced a huge new update to SuperGrok in the form of an anime AI avatar companion who looks like the character of Misa Amane from Death Note.

Grok gets a new AI girl companion

On X, Musk revealed the companion by instructing subscribers to turn on ‘companion’ in SuperGrok’s settings by pressing two bars in upper left of screen followed by the gear icon in bottom right of screen.

This gives users access to this new AI companion, Ani, a panda named Rudy, and a foul-mouthed version called Bad Rudy. A male anime character named Chad also appears to be in the works and is listed as “coming soon.”

AutismCapital, an X account that Musk often interacts with, claims that Ani was designed to be an “un copyrighted” version of Death Note’s Misa.

Both characters share a very similar appearance with blonde hair and gothic clothing. Coming from Elon, this isn’t exactly surprising, as he has shown to be a fan of anime and video game characters.

In 2023, he revealed photos of his ex-girlfriend Amber Heard cosplaying as Mercy from Overwatch – something he had requested her to wear.

AI companions have become a viral topic in recent months. In fact, 40% of adults say they’d date an AI chatbot with 26% admitting they had already flirted with one.
