The official trailer for Robert Eggers’ upcoming Nosferatu remake has been unveiled, offering another brief glimpse at Bill Skarsgård’s portrayal of the film’s vampire, also known as Count Orlok. Watch it below.
In the opening of the clip, Lily-Rose Depp’s Ellen Hutter awakens from a terrifying nightmare and recounts it to Willem Dafoe’s Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz, who reveals that she’s “had these spells since childhood.”
“It is like a dream. It was our wedding,” Depp says, as she remembers dancing with husband Thomas Hutter (Nicholas Hoult). “When we turned around… everyone was dead. The stench of their bodies… was horrible. Standing before me was… death.”
With fear in her eyes, Depp adds, “But I’d never been so happy.” Dafoe responds, “This creature is a force more powerful than evil. Its desire is to consume all life on earth. Only you can redeem us.”
The official logline describes the film as “a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake.”
Written and directed by Eggers, the Nosferatu remake’s cast is rounded out by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, and Simon McBurney.
Nosferatu opens in theaters on December 25th. Meanwhile, the film’s accompanying soundtrack, composed by Robin Carolan, will be released by Sacred Bones on November 22nd.
