Twitch star Pokimane broke down in tears describing how friendly everyone had been during her trip to Paris, sparking shocked reactions from French netizens.
Imane ‘Pokimane‘ Anys is one of Twitch’s top streamers, boasting over nine million followers on the purple broadcasting platform as the site’s most-followed female broadcaster.
She is one of several high-profile multilingual streamers on the site, also speaking French and Arabic.
As such, Pokimane occasionally collaborates with other French broadcasters, and visited France in February 2025, where she met up with a few prominent influencers in the country.

She spoke about her trip during a livestream that same month, breaking down into tears because of how pleasant everyone had been to her during her stay.
“People have been so nice to me, even though I’ve been more distant, you know?” she said to her viewers, wiping away tears with a tissue. “I just think it’s so sweet. Guys, stop spamming hearts, I’m just gonna cry more!
“No really, sometimes it surprises me how people are still so nice to me, you know,” she continued in French via machine translation. “Thank you, thank you. Yeah, I have to laugh. You mustn’t be nice, I’m just not going to cry anymore.”
Pokimane’s tearful broadcast surprised some viewers, with one writing on X, “She is so cute and seriously girly, but has she seen the devil in the States, or what? Every time she comes here, it looks like she just came out of the trenches. I don’t even dare to imagine what happened to her.”
In response, Anys posted a lengthy thread, explaining that she’s been the subject of “misinformation” in the past, referencing a few controversies that have cropped up during her career — including her viral remarks about the cost of her cookie line.
“You must not be a fan of me, but please don’t say false things, because I’m someone who has no trouble admitting when I’m wrong,” she wrote. “And please don’t assume my intentions just because I had an emotional moment after making some nice connections here.”
Pokimane’s trip to France has been an eventful one, with the streamer even sharing a wild story about an Airbnb she’d “accidentally” rented that was filled with some unexpected artwork.
