Meghan Markle‘s ex-friend Lizzie Cundy recently claimed that the Duchess of Sussex made the LA Children’s Hospital charity gala about herself, calling her appearance a mere “photo-op.”
Despite allegedly being ghosted by Meghan Markle after she met Prince Harry, Cundy expressed well wishes for the couple but claimed that the royal’s popularity in LA is fading.

Lizzie Cundy Criticizes Meghan Markle Over Her Appearance At A Charity Gala
In a recent interview on GB News, Cundy sharply criticized her former friend, Meghan, accusing her of turning the LA Children’s Hospital charity gala they both attended into a self-centered event.
Reflecting on Meghan’s presence at the event, Cundy expressed disappointment, saying, “It’s the event to be seen at. I was hoping she would do something for the charity, maybe do a speech, but it appeared she was just there for the photo-op.”
The 56-year-old continued, recalling a moment when a woman requested a selfie with the duchess: “Her face looked like she’d swallowed a wasp.”
Cundy concluded by suggesting that Meghan’s popularity in LA may be waning, saying, “She needs LA, but LA has had enough of her. She’s cooked a goose there. She makes it all about herself.”

Despite the charity’s great work, Cundy felt the duchess “made it all about Meghan.”
However, the former friends successfully avoided a potentially uncomfortable encounter at the gala, with Cundy seated at the top table and Meghan surrounded by her tight-knit security team.

Lizzie Cundy Claims The Duchess Wanted A Role On ‘Made in Chelsea’ Before Meeting The Prince
Cundy’s encounter with the duchess at the gala follows her claims last year that she once tried to help Meghan land a role on “Made In Chelsea” before her relationship with Prince Harry.
In a previous interview with GB News, the “From Wags to Riches” star told host Nana Akua that the former “Suits” actress had shown interest in joining the cast of the popular E4 reality show, “Made In Chelsea.”
She claimed that Meghan “wanted to get on to the showbiz scene and wanted a job in British TV, and wanted to be ‘Made in Chelsea,’ actually, the show.”

Cundy added, “So I said, ‘Look, if I can help you, I will,’ which I tried to do. I tried to hook her up with Ashley Cole, actually, the former Chelsea player, but she wasn’t his type. I said I’d try and hook her up with a few guys, she wanted to stay in Britain.”
She concluded that Meghan “wanted a British boyfriend. So she got that one in the end and won the lottery.”

Lizzie Cundy Reflects On Friendship With Meghan Markle: ‘We Got Ghosted, But It Is What It Is’
Cundy has previously shared that she became friends with Meghan after they hit it off at a charity dinner in 2013.
Recalling their friendship, Cundy explained, “I was friends with Meghan for a while and I really got on with her. I was asked by a friend to look after her at a charity event, and I thought, ‘Who is this woman?’ No one actually knew who she was.”
Reflecting on one of their nights out together, Cundy, who described Meghan as “a giggle” and “a real girl’s girl,” told the Daily Mail, “It was a very high-society party. She was climbing the ladder, as it were.”
She continued: “We were talking girly chat about my life, her life. She said she’d love to have a celebrity boyfriend. She loved Britain and felt very at home there.”
Cundy added, “The last time I spoke to her was just before Prince Harry. I wrote huge congrats and then realized the number changed and I didn’t get a reply.”
Laughing off the situation, she noted, “Me and Piers Morgan got ghosted as they say. But it is what it is, I understand. The royals are very different from celebrities. We got on very well.”

Lizzie Cundy Claims Duke And Duchess of Sussex Named Their Daughter Lilibet After Her, Not The Queen
In another interview with OK! Magazine, Cundy made the bold claim that Meghan and Prince Harry named their daughter Lilibet as a tribute to her rather than the Queen.
She shared, “I was called Lilibet. It’s short for Elizabeth. It was my nickname at school!”
Expressing her surprise, Cundy added, “Thank you, Meghan. You ghosted me – and now you’re calling your child after me. I appreciate it.”
She continued, “When I heard it on the radio, I kind of turned and said, ‘That’s my name! I haven’t been called it for years. I was quite shocked by it because it’s an unusual name. Maybe that’s her way of reaching out. But I wish them well, and I think it’s wonderful.”
She Called On King Charles To ‘Intervene’ After Harry & Meghan Were Parodied On ‘Family Guy’
Last year, after Meghan and Harry got parodied on an episode of “Family Guy,” Cundy called out the royal couple, claiming that they were drawing too much attention to themselves.
Cundy complained that the attention on the royal duo was getting out of hand and that the king himself would need to “intervene.”
“In light of the recent cartoons mocking Meghan and Harry, King Charles needs to intervene and stop her memoirs,” Cundy told the Mirror. “Enough now of their moaning and whinging, all they do is backstab and make a career out of complaining.”
She added, “It’s so bad now that we’re a laughing stock across the pond making cartoon features of the couple – it’s time for this to stop.”
