The 57-year-old, who spent significant time in a sober living facility after his split from Tori, 50, confessed the injury came while he was playing some recreational hockey.
“Got clipped with a high stick today,” he wrote. “Being sober, I appreciate my beloved game of hockey even more.
“Ken Dryden said, ‘hockey doesn’t build character, it reveals it.’ I sure have met a lot of characters in my 50 years of playing.”
Dean wrapped up his message declaring, “Hockey is my Church!! Best Game EVER!!!!” and adding the hashtags #sober and #hockey.
Fans in the comments section were relieved to learn the true nature of the injury – especially given the actor’s troubled past.

Dean threw fans a hook last year, when he posted a formal letter telling his Instagram followers that he and Tori were now “starting a new journey.”
But just hours later, the post appeared to have been deleted – with no explanation.

Just a few days later, a source close to the couple exclusively revealed to The U.S. Sun that Tori’s marriage is “a complete disaster.”
“Dean has spoken about leaving Tori for 4 years and the night he announced their marriage was over on social media, it shocked Tori because she never takes Dean seriously.
“But that night, they both were drinking heavily and had a huge blowout fight,” the insider claimed.

That same year, Dean’s ex was slapped with a $31,775.84 state tax lien from 2016.
In 2017, a federal tax lien for about $184,390.67 was filed against the couple for 2015.
That same year, Tori was hit with a state lien for $50,062.84 from 2015.
In 2016, the former couple were hit with a federal tax lien for $707,487.30 for 2014.
Finally, the exes had another state tax lien filed against them in 2016 for the 2014 year in the amount of $259,108.23.
No releases for the state and federal tax liens were filed with the Los Angeles County Recorder Office.
