There’s a lot of hard work that goes into the journey to fame and before making it big, there comes a few less-than-glamorous jobs. For some future stars, that involves making a couple of extra bucks as a babysitter. Kiefer Sutherland says he babysat Gwyneth Paltrow on a few occasions while he was working in a theater with her mother Blythe Danner. At the time, the future actress was just a preteen and Kiefer later admitted that when he saw Gwyneth’s acting career take off several years later, he thought she was a different person.
“I believe on a couple of occasions I was asked to look after her for an hour or two. I think it was very funny because it’s unbelievable how fast someone goes from 13 to 18, and obviously they look so different that when Gwyneth started to work, I thought, ‘Well, that must be another girl because I always remember her as being 11 or 12 years old,'” Kiefer once shared.

When Lena Dunham was young, she was looked after by a teenage Zac Posen who would accompany her on the subway on the way to school. Even before he was designing outfits for the red carpet, Zac says was trying out fashion looks on Lena and would style her while they rode the train together.
“I must’ve been like 17 or 18 and it was my high school job to take her on the train to school we went to. She was younger than I was and we’d take the subway. I’d pick her up and I’d re-do her hair. That’s what I’d do. I’d re-do her hair to go on the train…We had fun,” Zac told HuffPost Live.

3. Alexis Haines & Doja Cat
Before Alexis Haines became notorious for her involvement in the Bling Ring and her reality show “Pretty Wild,” she was Doja Cat’s babysitter. She says the two used to spend time together scrolling through the internet and she even posted some of Doja’s early music on her MySpace page.
“We were a little bit more of the latchkey kids. We had these hippie moms and were given probably more freedom than kids should have been,” Alexis told Rolling Stone.
4. Alice Cooper & Keanu Reeves
Back when Keanu Reeves was just a kid, his mother worked with Alice Cooper as a costume designer. At times, Alice was asked to look after a young Keanu — as well as a friend or two.
“I remember once, Keanu and I trying to take on Alice Cooper. He tied us up like a human knot,” Keanu’s childhood friend, Evan Williams, told People.

5. Cher & Anthony Kiedis
When Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis was a young teen, he was babysat by his family friend, Cher. He recalled the experience in his memoir, “Scar Tissue,” noting he was 13 when Cher volunteered to babysit because Sonny wasn’t available. He says the two had a “heart-to-heart talk for hours” before they both ended up sleeping in Cher’s bedroom.
“I was in the eighth grade and still hanging with Sonny…from time to time, and for some reason, [he] got jammed up, so Cher volunteered to watch me for the night. We camped out in her bedroom, having a heart-to-heart talk for hours on end, really getting to be friends for the first time,” Anthony wrote.
When Topher Grace was just a kid living in Connecticut, he says he was babysat by Chloë Sevigny before she made it big. At the time, he admits he had a big crush on the actress.
“I had a huge crush on her when she was my babysitter. Oh my God. I was like, you know, nine or something. But I remember whenever she turned her back, I would blow kisses to her. But only when she wasn’t looking at me,” Topher said on SiriusXM’s “The Jess Cagle Show.”

When Paula Abdul was a little girl, she was babysat by Michael Bolton. The musician later explained that he ended up with the job because Paula’s older sister was dating his guitarist. During an evening they had all planned to go out, they realized there was no one to watch Paula and Michael ended up with the job.
8. Tia and Tamera Mowry & Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen
Before Tia and Tamera Mowry were some of television’s most famous twins, they were babysitting fellow twins Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen when they were just toddlers. Tia explained that when their brother Tahj was on “Full House,” they would visit set and were sometimes asked to watch over the younger twins.
“My brother, he played Teddy [on ‘Full House’], and so we would always go and visit the set. We would actually babysit the Olsen twins…The producers that would hang around on the set, they’re like, ‘These girls, they’re so adorable.’ We even did a guest spot on ‘Full House.’ It’s kind of like where we got our first start,” Tia revealed on “The Meredith Vieira Show.”
Jennifer Garner once worked as a babysitter for Stephen Colbert’s family after the duo met on the set of “Spin City.” The actress and her roommate ended up trading off shifts taking care of his daughter Madeleine.
“You started babysitting for me and that’s how you survived as an actress…and then one day you said ‘I got a new agent and [he wants me to go to LA]…We said, ‘That poor thing’ because you were so nice…We thought, ‘Los Angeles will devour her,'” Stephen said on his show.

Bethenny Frankel says she used to work for fellow “Housewife” Kathy Hilton as a nanny to her children Paris and Nicky. She landed the job through her friendship with Kathy’s sister Kyle Richards.
“Part of the job became coming, in my Ford Probe, to get you and Nicky from Lycée, this sort of fancy French school. And I remember, we’d go with Kyle to the Mobile Mart or the gas station after. And I would take you guys ice skating. Do you remember that? Because you were young,” Bethany said on an episode of her podcast “Just B with Bethenny Frankel” that featured Paris.

D’Arcy Carden formerly worked as a nanny for Bill Hader, taking care of his two oldest daughters Hannah and Harper when they were just toddlers.
